After we trotted through Thanksgiving, my tree went up, and I began to prepare myself for the whirlwind of the next month. Gray's grandmother, Meredith, and my stepdad, Bob, all have December birthdays. I kinda feel sorry for these folks. December makes for a hard month to "birthday" in. But they can't help it, so I was determined not to let Meredith's birthday go without a bang. On her actual birthday she went to Mother's day out. She had cupcakes with her class. All the kids were covered in icing and crumbs...all except, Meri. My OCD child neatly ate her cupcake without so much as a napkin needed for her face.

Later that day, we I decorated the living room so we could have cake and open presents. She thought it was grand. Up until this point, she hadn't so much as touched a gift under the tree...poor child had no concept of birthday presents opposed to Christmas presents after this. They were all just presents that needed to be opened. She refrained, though it must have been hard. Christmas came and she had a blast. She got most everything a girl could want.

Then I had a birthday party to throw. whew. Are you tired yet? I was. We had her party on the 27th at our church. The theme this year was Meredith's Favorite Things. We ate her favorite food and decorated with her favorite characters. After having words with the mean bakery lady at Wal-mart (the only place that would make me a cake after Christmas), being paged by the mean bakery lady over the intercom at Wal-mart, and then having the mean bakery lady apologize to me, I ordered 3 cakes. Well, cupcakes in 2 themes and a small cake just for Meredith. It turned out well and I had lots of help decorating and cleaning up. Meredith really enjoyed it. I just didn't want her birthday to get lost in the mix of Christmas.
